Just wanted to get some advice for "the next best mod" for the lude. I already have an ICEMAN SRI and RSR cat-back exhaust. I'm not sure what to do next as far as a performance mod, I know I want to lower it also for better handling/cornering but am focusing on performance first. I was thinking maybe a Greddy SS header or a Apex'i VTEC controller. What would be the better from the two? Maybe cam gears or pulleys? Blah..I dunno.. Any help, advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
You won't notice the header as much as you will the suspension. Although the header will finish off your bolt-on breathing mods. And if you want the VAFC you have to remember the extra cost for dyno tuning. If you want bang for the buck get suspension and $37 extra for motor mount inserts. Woohah!

your stock motor mounts have holes in them so they will be soft and isolate the engine vibrations etc from the car and you.. this is great if you want a cadillac, but the motor mount inserts go on the outsides of the mounts and fill the inside spaces up so its more like a solid motor mount..
pluses are HUGE.. almost no wheelhop, better throttle response, better shifting, and the whole car just has a different feel, more connected..
bad things are vibration at idle.. only time you notice it..
Depends on your budget really and how you drive the car. To me, the next step would be a header. That way the breathing and exhaust part of it all is then complete and you can tune it as such. If you were to get a VAFC first and get it set up, then decide to get a header, you would have to pay to have it set up all over again and waste money that would go towards the suspension, which should come next!
ES, unless you want to pay more and get the actual mounts, ES inserts are awesome for what you pay, and supposedly very easy to put in. Check around, one of our sponsors probably sells them.
Hey guys, do the motor mounts in any way hurt or put more stress to the motor? Another thing, does the motor need to be taken out in order to install the mounts??
Nah no more stress on the motor, just feels more like a sports car, but it will vibrate noticeably more on the inside at idle.. I guess if you have rattles now it would be amplified..
it replaces the front and the rear mounts.. takes about 2-3 hours to install taking precious time and a few breaks if you have never done it(thats about what it took me)..
hey, yea where in VA are you at? I might be able to help, you dont have to take the motor out, just use a jack and take off the weight of the motor mount your replacing..
