glass sunroof panel

So I was just surfing around on ebay and came across item # 220286205158 which is a glass sunroof panel.
i have never seen a 4th gen with a glass sunroof panel but the pics of it appear to be the same size as the normal metal moon roof. The seller says that it wont fit in place of a metal panel cause it is a different size.

Does anyone know if this is true or not?

It's the 5th gen moonroof.

Yes, it will fit with some work.

Yes, there are some threads regarding this matter on PO.

i have the 5gen glass panel on it... i just do this.. Moonroof conversion

it remains a bit higher that the metal one... most in the front, the back part sits almost like the metal...

some pics of one installed

i still dont have the bolt covers... but someday i think I will make it in fiberglass or buy them... also some day would like to make the lid cover maybe in fiberglass too, divided in two parts...

I saw another write up with the whole sunroof of the 5th gen... sunroof, support, motor, lid... I think that it sits better that just replacing the "sunroof" and also will have the lid... but its hard to find...

^yeah sean1311 (or something like that) did it.

He's on ntpog.

Lol I looked at the auction....that honestly doesn't look like an actual glass moonroof. If you look at the paint reflection and the moonroof, it's almost idential. Normally if it's glass, it would be a different color.

Looks like a bad item description.

No, the slider stays inside the car at all times.

Nope, its just your basic LED circuit.

I was looking for this thread for a while now... Finally found it.

So you guys had to remove your 3rd brake light lamp circuit and add your own custom LED lamp circuit in order to keep the sliding cover? Do you think it would be possible to install the moonroof with the sliding cover without removing the bulb assembly/circuit for the 3rd brake light?

wow, back from the dead huh?! I didn't because I have the 3rd brakelight spoiler, but had to get a headliner with the 3rd brakelight cover to act as the motor cover for the 5th gen assembly. As so:

I see, wow. I may reconsider getting the slider... Might just go with just the glass roof and maybe some extra tint.

Thanks for the pics!!

I installed the 5th gen assembly a few months ago. I had trouble with the headliner fitting exactly right and before I could finish the modifications to the interior something happen with the cables in the assembly. My motor was still good, however it would not slide (yes i lubed the tracks up too).

When I get back with my car, I may try this mod again.
