Give me ideas for a nice 96 Prelude Tuner?

Ok so I just bought a 1996 prelude with only 90k miles on it!!! It currently runs an F22A1 motor in it. Which for only having 119 HP its acceleration is blazing. However im looking to tune it out completely I have a few ideas on its exterior but i want to know on its engine. Money is not really an issue but id like to only place about 10k in it and keep it running good. For starters i was thinking to start with a new exhaust and CAIT and maybe some KSPORT suspension on it but idk what vtec engine do you all recommend I place in its hood.

welcome to the forums!

you have a high budget, so your possibilities are very wide. You need to get more specific.

to keep things short and to the point you should do an H22 swap. Thats the motor that has the dohc vtec. If you wanna boost or turbo you can keep your sohc F22A1. You can also upgrade to H23 motor to take advantage of that dohc, this one is also good for boost and turbo. If you wanna go N/A just do the H22 swap. Since your budget is high, do the big things first and the little things like (Intake, Header, Exhaust etc) they will take care of themselves later.

Use the search button of this forum to answer many of your questions. You can also ask specific questions here. There are many knowledgeable people around here that will be able to help you out.

Search is your best friend.

one more thing I forgot to mention. All 96 - up Preludes are OBD2. Even tho your Prelude is the last year of the 4th gen, it is OBD2 like a 5th gen. A good thing to do would be to convert yours to OBD1. It just makes things so much easier when it comes to tuning, modding, chipping etc.

If you don't wanna convert, then you can also go in a direction of swapping in a H22 motor from a 5th gen.

Any motor u swap that is 1995 and under, will require you to convert to OBD1.

Type R engines are the biggest waste of money, build them then build a black top right next to it with the same parts they'll make the same power, only time one has more power than the other is when the internals are stock.

Go on Honda-tech and read through as many build threads as you can find then come back, way more going on there in terms of 300+whp N/A builds along with some very high hp turbo builds.
