Gettin at that ECU....

How does one get at the ECU basically to find and splice into a wire...

I know its under the passangers feet.... Under the carpet under that big hunk o metal protecting it.... But how do i Get that sucker off, the carpet I find doesn't pull back far enough for one to get at it, so you can unscrew that big metal plate, and unless you are just suppose to look at the side of the ecu wher the wires tap in , it seems a lil difficult to find and splice a wire in the mess down ther....

How do I get that ecu available so I can splice into somethin.

pull. the carpet comes back far enough. remove the ecu shield completely, set it to the side. unscrew the ecu from the sucker. you can pull it out as well. undo some of the electric tape thats wrapped around and that shrinkwrap (save it for replacing everything) and much easier to get to.

pull the carpet back, then on the side by the door panel, take off the plastic side step (pull up) then you will have more room to pull the carpet more.

I find that the carpet near the center console wraps up behind the console then continues down onto the drivers side, doesn't anyone elses do that? It prevents me from pulling it down.

Yeah, my carpet wraps around under the center console but you should be able to pull the left corner diagonally back enough to remove the ECU shield. It'll take a little bit of wiggling in the upper right corner but no biggie.

Be sure to take off the door sil and the kick plate since it'll hold the carpet down.

Pull off the carpet - then pull off the plastic matte - Remove 6 bolts using 10mm deep socket rachet

Cover removed - use 10mm deep socket to remove 4 screws holding the ECU.

Shouldnt be too hard, it takes about 10 min to remove the ECU plate, its a tight space as it is with the carpet the way it is
