Gauge install question..

I am looking do get 3 gauges.. but I do not like the way gauge pods look on the lude, I have seen a set-up where someone installed the gauges on the passanger side dash.. right under the passanger airbag.... can this be safely done, and still keep the airbag functional???

I can't because I have a 4" and 1" tweeter in each of the stock tweeter locations.. and I have a VAFC where my ashtray was

If you have an airbag then this cannot be done and you still keep the airbag. If you wanna get rid of the passenger airbag then you will end up removing or cutting into the heater/AC tubing that runs from your climate control to the passenger door. If you don't care about Airbags or ac/heat for your passenger then go for it. Email PreludeGod on HP.com he has done this setup on his car and he can email you instructions.

If non of this is an option have you considereda custom install right in the plexi that runs along the dash? I know past the fuel gauge and warning lights there isn't much behind there to get in the way

I was going to mold a gauge pod upside down, between the speedo and the fuel gauge

Hmm I am getting conflicting stories about being able to do this and hold onto my airbag and AC.. I will have to contact that guy who did it and see what's up.... behind the plexi glass?? that sounds very cool.

Pretty much you gotta look at the total length of the gauges front to back. If you had one in hand you would see that they are about 2-1/2 to 3 inches from front to back due to the mounting bolts and U lock that slides over them. Your Airbag unit is about the same thickness but it goes top to bottom. So you see where these parts would hit eachother.

As for behind the plexi heres a pic of that blank space behind there past the gauges
