Gauge Cluster Removal Question

Hello,
I'm having problems removing my gauge cluster in my BB2. I have the dash apart, but not the actual vinyl dash peice off. Do I have to remove that peice? I can ALMOST get it off, if you check the picture out, I cant get the white bottom to come up over my dash to pull it out. Please don't tell me that has to come out and there's an easier way then removing that peice.

Thanks in advance.

there are 4 screws...make sure you take out the center plastic piece and that black strip that seperates the plastic cover of the cluster, and the plastic cover that protects the fuel/temp. did you take out your tweeters yet? that should give you more room.

Yes, I removed them. The gauge cluster is free that I can move it/wiggle it around, but when I try to lift it out, the bottom main vinyl dash peice is not letting the white trim part of the cluster out that is in the picture I posted above.

you just have to angle it a certain way. Try pushing the bottom portion back as fat as you can and pull it out top first. If that doesnt work try it the other way. You dont have to take any of the vinyl pieces off. Just work em around and pull. You can move the vinyl pieces down a little just by pushing. You'll get it.

tilt it away from you and pull the bottom up and towards you until you get the white part out, after removing the four screws of course, then disconnect the connectors on the side and on the top.

Thanks, I'll go back out and try again. It was very frustrating.
