It's really weird but I was driving one night and my clock on the dash started flashing bright and dim for a few seconds. The next day I was driving home after work and I looked at my gas and temperature gauges aren't on. I thought maybe it was the whole instrument cluster itself but the CEL, battery light, etc. comes up normally when I crank it besides the gas and temp. gauges. I haven't messed with my wiring ever since I installed my 94+ dash harness for my EL gauges. Everything has been working fine besides my emergency flashers on the cluster comes on for both signals. Could it be a fuse or something? Anyone have suggestions on what I should try? I don't want to buy another instrument cluster until I'm for sure thats the problem. Thanks for any info guys.
do you have a helms? is your clock still on? the clock is powered from a separate fuse from the one that powers the fuel/temp gauges. Check the No. 13 (10A) fuse under the dash box. It could also be the dimmer relay.
Since someone brought up the dimmer relay I figured I would try to dim it or whatever. Only worked on the speedo and tach, the clock didn't work. An suggestions for a more thorough troubleshoot

does your car still start and run well ? also when u put the key in the ignition, and go to accessory 2, do your main cluster and sub cluster ( speedo and fuel gauges ) light up ? if not, when you start your car do you see power at all on the instruments ? if thats the case, i just got the same thing. My clusters light up when the car starts, but not when i m on accessory 2 and sometimes the car takes a while to start cause of the short, sometimes i get power sometimes i dont on the ignition. The problem is the ignition switch has gone bad. Some how mine got a short, cause smoke started coming out of the area behind the steerin wheel. I just got a new ignition switch from honda yesterday, i ll put it on sometimes this weekend.
hope this helps.

I think my speed and tach still comes on while on Acc 2. All my other lights work, its just my fuel and temp gauges that are dead. Anyone know where the dimmer relay is?
i believe the dimmer relay is behind the dash, to the right of the clock. Its screwed over a white cover.

now i come think of it, i doubt it's the dimmer relay...did u check that fuse i told you about? the dimmer relay controls the ALL of dash lights after headlights are on. if your clock's still working more than likely it is that fuse or an open on one of the wires going into the fuel/temp circuit board. check the harness plugging into it.
Yea I checked the fuse, was fine. The reason I haven't checked the wires yet is because I didn't have a screwdriver short enough to take the dash apart. I do now since my parents come visit me :d
I bought another instrument cluster and dimmer relay. I switched the relay and it was still dead. So I switched the gauges hoping and wishing that it would work..... I looked and I was like crap I wasted $25. Then I looked and they were working... So glad I don't have to guess how much gas I have now. Now if I could fix my flashers on my gauges!
