i also was really really close. i drove home from school which is like 25 miles with two bars. the light came up a few times and i when i was off the highway, i decided to stop at a closer gas station to get like 2 bucks of gas, then go to my normal gas station. but i think i was really really close cuz that thing was at one bar for a while. i was praying i didnt get stuck. i wish i recorded how many gallons i put in.

I think I'm at 290mi/g on my Prelude Si 4Ws Auto. I'm going up I5 and staying at approx. 4k the whole way there. That's about 80mi/h folks. How I wish I had my Manual Conversion now

same here, i usually drive home at 4k (80mph). i get home pretty quick, hehe. the gear ratios are so high! on my moms lexus, it would prob be at like 2.5k rpm.

wow, really? i didnt know you could do that. i thought that when your on the last bar, your running very close to empty cuz once it reaches zero bars, your gas should be done. but i guess you can still drive with no bars. almost wish i didnt know that so i dont end up trying to drive it as far as possible and get stuck doing it lol.

is it bad if your car shuts off from no more gas being in the car?

^^no, but when no gas is left in the tank, your fuel pump will, for lack gas, suck anything else that may be at the bottom. This topic is well covered in at least one thread.

Preludeian - something's not right. My manny revs at about that engine speed at 80, and I'll do about 350-380 miles/tank with about 240 of those miles highway, and the rest city, usually when I fill up I only get about 13 - 13.5 in, so that's around 26-28mpg. You either have a good amount of gas left or your car is devouring it at an uncanny rate.

hey 4thgen, do you know wher ethe fuel pump is in our tanks? Cause people try and say that same thing on the Porsche board i am on, but it doesnt apply cause in our porsche's the fuel pickup is in the bottom of the tank, so the sedimate actually goes to the pump when there is some, but in my Porsche there is a few filters for it.

MidniteMIst, Actually according to what i have heard in this thread i have not pushed myself anywhere near actually empty cause i have never gotten much more than 14 gallons in the car.

I get about 24/25mpg on the highway with 93 octane, averaging 80-90mph. In the city, I'm lucky to get 20.

Well, awhile back ago I filled up the tank, not just partially like I always have and got way better mileage then I had previously thought. I'm in the 340-50 range ATLEAST

okay this is kinda similar but not really just didn't feel like putting in a new thread......
i used to only put chevron 93 octane gas.......got around 290 miles and i would usually go down to 3 bars and fill-up so about 12.5 gallons....then on a long trip didn't stop by a chevron and got regular no name gas......got almost 340 miles down to 3 bars.......thought maybe cause i'm on a long trip maybe i get better.......well last week i filled up again with no name gas in the city and doing my regular routine.......~320 miles.......so i know chevron gas is good but is their additive (techron) depleting from actual gas that could be used to give me longer range?

well while we're on the subject on my H22A1 once the light comes on i got about 3 gallons left... and I've pushed it as far as having to fillup to 15.65 gallons. That was f**in' funny... reminded me of that Seinfeld episode. Anyway best MPG i've gotten outta my baby was 26.8 MPG while 27 was the highway rating... this on 76 91oct. with major will power on keeping my foot light... One time only. I keep trying now and I get only as close as 23-24 MPG...

For a while I flirted with 'E' just to see how many miles I could squeeze out of one tank, I always folded early thinking I'd gone too far lol. I think the most I'd ever ended up filling was +-14 gallons
got you beat i flirted with E up to 15.6 gallon, i nearly busted a nut knowning i was almost empty

before i modded the lude i remember getting 28-30 mpg, i didnt have too much of a lead foot then. but after rims, exhaust... and lowering, i took the same trip up to sf, and did worse.. i rougly get 24-26 mpg

i have a auto
