Gas guage

So i've owned two preludes at this point and both i always knew got great gas mileage but was always concerned about how fast the little chunks in the gas guage go away. I kinda thought that my mileage was being eaten away by my tarzan like drving but one day i put three gallons in and it gave me a quater of a tank, which was like six or seven chunks, idk i didn't count. But it showed me that the number of chunks is completly unproportional to the ammount of gas. All i want to know is if theres a connection between the numbver of chunks on the gas guage and the amount of gas in the tank. Because it doesn't seem liike they're connected at all. I think theres like 26 chunks and fourteen gallons.

All I know for sure is that the gas gauge exponentially decreases because at halfway you are ~3/4ths done with the tank.

I don't know why honda does this because it is annoying. In fact, almost all the cars i've ever had do this with the exception of american made cars. those gas gauges really tell you how much gas is left.

I know, my matrix I owned previously did that.. you'd be at 1/2 a tank, and a little farther down the road, you'd look and have the "E" light on..
