Funky Tach

For the past few weeks my cars tach has been acting wonky (that's a technical term) and it's been jumping around. I was able to diagnose that the cause of this problem was the ignitor (aka ICM for you OBII boys). In any case, I bought a new ignitor (after futzing around with used ignitors) from advance auto. I bought the cheaper of the two ($90) and popped that thing in my car. Everything was wonderful. The car had rejuvinated acceleration, and there was no hesitation. After driving back from my mom's house in NOVA, back to Blacksburg (about 4 hours) I decided to do a couple WOT runs. Just about when I hit VTEC in, the tach began to jump a bit. This is my problem.....WHY!!!! Right now the only thing I can think of is that the ECM is going bad. I can't imagine that I got a faulty ignitor from advance, but I guess it's possible. If any of you have any ideas, I would love to hear from you. By the way, there is no hesitation, it's just a tach bobble. Thanks.

Anybody else have any other ideas. Even though if it's not a "problem", it really bothers me. Thanks

Ok, so it's not just a cosmetic problem anymore. There seems to be hesitation only in the VTEC range. I've read the uber long hesitation threads, and there doesn't seem to be a distinct answer about VTEC only hesitation. I saw the VTEC solenoid bulletin, but I'm having trouble believing that it would affect the tach as bad as I'm seeing it. Basically, it's like the tach is increasing in a super notchy fashion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
