fuel mileage help?

i've been getting maybe 12 miles to the gallon?

it has nothing to do with my style of driving, i suspect it is a leak in the fuel lines or something somewhere, yesterday i was revving around 6-7k rpms for fun and i "think" i smelled fresh totally unburned gas.

i don't think its my ecu cause if it was burning THAT richly i would totally know it... and as far as i know i don't feel any power diff

lol, definitely NOT your style of driving, I dunno that it's possible to run that kinda mileage. Have you smelled under the hood, around the fuel rail? When your car is idling and you're sitting in it with the windows shut can you smell anything?

yes i can with the windows closed... so i dont' know where the sucker thing is for the fans that blow in when i have the heat on... but if it is close to the fuel rail... maybe i have a leaky fuel rail?

i should check my brakes also to make sure any of them are not stuck shut a littl ebit... i surely don't feel it though? the car seems to roll in neutral fine?

hmm ... all I can think of at the moment is that you'd be running really rich if it had anything to do with your pressure or injectors (not to mention you'd probably throw a code if it were the injectors), so it must be a leak somewhere between the tank and the injectors, which doesn't really narrow things down lol. Concede and take it to a dealer

anytime i start getting bad gas mileage i check the o2 sensor. i was gettin 17mpg hwy when i finally decided to clean it- get a propane torch [12 bucks from walmart] and evenly heat up the metal end of the sensor until you can kinda see it getting shiney. dont over do it of course, but burn all that off and put it back in. i was getting 27mpg on the highway after that.

i was thinking if it was my untuned chip running THAT richly i would def notice a loss in power and i... don't think i do (course i'm kinda unsensitive to these things and could barely feel the gain of 20ft-lbs from my tune on the chip "its tuned just not all that well"

haha "concede" haha

ok i guess i'll take it to the dealer and suggest o2 sensor or fuel rail leak or gas tank leak.
