Fuel Filter Replacement

I have to do my 120k mile tuneup soon, and I know how to do everything except the fuel filter. How hard is it, and what is involved in the replacement? Where is our fuel filter even located?

Thanks, Jordan

It's not too hard on ours, just did mine a few weeks ago. It is located on the firewall on the passenger side. A small cylinder shaped filter with 2 lines going in the top. Do it on a cold engine, away from open flames. Just loosen the two fittings and the band that holds it to the firewall. The filter comes with 3 small washers, note where they are when you take it apart. I never did figure out where the third one went but not problems so far. Just put it all back together and when you turn your car back on make sure there is no gas leaking. Make sure you don't bend the one fuel line that is metal. That is really the only hard part.

ITs a PITA. I recomend disconnecting your intake and moving it out of the way. Its easy to take out, but getting it back into place took a long time cause of the fuel lines I bent them taking it out so getting it back into position sucked

I did mine with the engine out, so it wasn't that bad. Make sure you relieve the pressure in the lines by removing your gas gap and undoing the 10 mm bolt on the end of the fuel rail before starting. The filter I bought at the parts store was the correct shape and everything, but the hole for the banjo bolt was to small. I looked a few other places, and all the filters for Preludes had the same small hole. I ended up just getting one from Honda (not too much more than the auto parts store actually). You might want to use a flare wrench on the hard line that connects to the filter to prevent rounding it off.

I dont have a pic of it, but its on the firewall straight across from the TB. or follow the fuel line from the fuel rail

Looks like a little black canister. On the firewall, right near where the intake tube connects to the throttle body. You can also follow the line on the fuel rail back to it.
