fuel cut off or over rev???

my car is a 1993 prelude si/sr automatic i was driving down an open highway and decided to see how fast my car can go. i was up to about 180km/per hour at around 5000rpm when all of a sudden i heard this noise; it sounded as though i was over reving the engine. my friend beside me thought it was the fuel cut off. i need a second opinon from u guys. what do u think happened???
thx in advance

yeah 180 km/h is the fuel cutoff on an Si/SR. I believe the SR-V/Si VTEC is at 220+ km/h (140 mph)

Sounds like fuel cut off to me. Wow, I have no plans on seeing my fuel cut off unless I'm in Montana.

what's the top speed for a si/sr with a auto trans. with stock engine plus free bolt on mods.

i am hoping/guessing that it was fuel cut off...cause my car still runs normally and i can still rev it up to 6500rpm.

the car has no problems getting near 180kmper/hour

Yeah, that's what I thought. The USDM ludes don't have a top speed cutoff. I didn't have one when I had my H23a1. My current jdm H22a does cut fuel around 120 mph or so though.

Correct the JDM ECU cuts off fuel at 180 KH/M. USDM ECU.... as fast as the car will go!!
