Frankenstein Engine ?

I am looking to rebuild my motor. I have a h23 but i dont want to go for a whole engine swap to get the h22. i heard about a "monster frankenstein". i was told its when you put a h22 head on a h23 motor. also know as h23 vtec. is this a good mod to do on my motor? any downsides? any upsides? help me out. thanks

If you search for this topic you will get a ton. I dont know much about it, but i hear it's a huge pain swapping an H22A head onto an H23A. I supose if you can get it to work, why not? But I would just swap out the H23A for an H22A VTEC. Or turbo the H23 for that money.

yes its possible to do h23/h22 hybrid but it may not be worth all the trouble. My friend has done the swap on his lude himself. It runs great but having some little problems. He also post on here so maybe he can give you more info.

both h23 and h22 can be turbo. There are a few kits available out right now....drag, fmax, etc.

Its kinda hard to answer your questions. It really depends what your are trying to do with your car....daily driver, race,or whatever??? And of course how much you want to spend??

Reliability will also be an issue with VTEC/turbo on the H23- no oil squirters. Every VTEC and turbo from what I've seen that is reliable has them, and the few instances I've seen with turbo/vtec on the H23 motor have either tossed a rod or haven't been driven enough to tell.

For the cost and work you are looking at, you might as well get the whole motor.

92 Si Ludester, Is my boy, HE is getting the VTEC head swap from the same guy who is gonna drop in my engine after i yank mine out, He has 3 Preludes 2 4th gens one VTEC and a H23 VTEC, and a 5th gen that runs 13's N/A I'll upload the pics, he had custom headers, custom intake that came thoriuh the roof of the hood, right on top of the intake manifold, this guy is the king of Preludes, HE is my boy And he knows what he's doing, NEXT 92 Si Ludester is getting a rebuilt and VTEC head swap for $1500. I am paying $2500 for the drop in and engine, this guy like i said is my boy and is hooking us up. So he is saving $1000. Plus he wants to keep his car auto. BTW where is 92 Si Ludester? Asks this question and doesn't even check it out, Yo Dennis! BUT I told Dennis about the oil squirters being an issue. He is not looking to race and push his car 24/7 only when he wants to screw around...
but I don't know too much about the Head Swap, So what are the pros and cons???

Thanks
Jose
