Fourth Generation Exact weight of pieces info inside

Hello everyone,

I have been looking at this website for a while, but now I decided to register and make a contribution to anyone with questions regarding weight. I am in the process of doing some major weight reduction to my car and have weighed the pieces I have taken off. I will update this as I go in order to help everyone out.

Rear bumper Support, 4 bolts, 2 tow brackets = 25 LB
Sound Deadening trunk, center, front = 17 LB
A/C Unit all hoses, coolant, bracket, belt = 33 LB
Power Steering Unit, bracket, belt, hoses = 21 LB
4WS complete system = 66 LB
ABS complete system = 25 LB
Spare Tire and Jack = 32 LB
Backseat = 26 LB
Backseat brackets, supports, seat belts, bolts = 14 LB
All trunk covers = 16 LB
Floor mats front and back = 10 LB

yeah nice job, but i have a question...

WHY ON EARTH WOULD U DISMEMBER AN ULTRA RARE 4WS LUDE!!

u could've gotten an S model and half of the work would've already been done for u from the factory.

a little piece of me just died.

lol yea... buying a 4WS and then removing the 4WS system is counter productive. But hey, good info!

I never removed my 4WS
Just compared the 4WS model with the regular SI on Edmunds.com
I have since reinstalled my power steering since 4WS without it is pretty pointless.
Pretty much removed all the brackets from front to back that are pointless.

Interior is stripped right now, but I ordered some Dynamat to place in the car before installing brand new black carpet and making the back a hatchback of sorts without the back seats being used.

I have my dash out of my car right now and am working on removing the entire SRS system. I removed the passenger side airbag unit and I can tell you that one piece weighs way more than I thought it would. 15-20 pounds at least, but I will weigh it soon with the rest of the brackets. The srs system has this weird heavy metal support behind the dash that weighs a good bit too.

I just simply dont trust a 17 year old airbag system, and in the second place I always wear my seatbelt and do the speed limit. Plus airbags can inflict more damage than good, and i have adjusted my seat belt to make sure it does not slip and let me hit the steering wheel or dash.

I love my 4WS and will not be taking it out, so you can all rest easy.
