Fourth gen prelude manual reverse problems

Ive recently purchased a 4th gen prelude with manual trans, since I got it I've had problems with it spitting reverse gear out when backing. I was wondering of this is a problem with the linkages as it doesnt seem to engage properly in the beginning or is it something more serious? if anyone can help with this fix it would be much appreciated. Cheers

Does the shifter feel solid when in reverse? Does the transmission make grinding noises before spitting out reverse?

Check the linkage mount on top of the transmission. Like you said, sounds like it might be loose and not engaging reverse fully.

Hey dude chill, I screwd up thats why I "double posted", I posted this one first then the one in fourth gen. Might wanna find something better to do with your time than complain about people posting in the wrong forum, heres an idea: you could go to a bmw forum! Thanks everyone else for all your help :-D

Actually as a moderator that's my job is to enforce rules. I look out for idiots who can't post correctly. It's not like you posted the same thing twice. You're posts were different in that the titles changed so you must have known.

So why don't you get with the program.

I do go to a bmw forum thank you very much.

Only if the different forum still applies to your question. A transmission question seems pretty universal.

Peter, I understand you have a job to do but by the looks of things you over do it, Ive looked at some of your posts on other peoples threads and all you do is go around mocking peoples lack of knowledge. We come on these forums in the hope that people sharing the same interests as ourselves but with maybe more knowledge in the area can help with problems we might have, not to be mocked by people that are so insecure that they feel the need to take the p*ss out of peoples ideas etc. As a moderator you should be more mature and helpful, if you dont have anything good to say to people dont say anything at all. Heres another thing, I dont think that the titles differing on my two threads is reasonable grounds to assume and accuse me of intentionally double posting, they both imply the same point and only differ by one word missing from one of them. The double post was merely an accident and I appologise for any annoyance caused by this.
Once again thanks to everyone else who are actually helping me resolve this problem. One more question, is it bad to hold it in reverse while reversing, and is it just going to stop being able to reverse one day? Cheers

lol. well i asked my boyfriend and he thinks it could be your clutch going bad. i wouldn't recommend holding it in reverse though lol. as far as i know it can make it twice as bad.

The clutch seems fine to me and when you hold it in reverse it doesnt fight you to pop out, which i thought would mean theres not too much damage being caused if any, but im no expert
