My left rear suspension clunks because of a worn bushing by the lower control arm. I am going to replace it because it is the only part of the suspension that is loose.
Part number is 18, and the part is called the Sway Bar Endlink. I am going to pick up this part, and have it installed on the 27th. I will keep you guys posted on my progress.
I just went out and inspected mine. It is a bit loose but I think it is supposed to be like that. I also looked at everything else down there and couldn't find anything loose. The "clunk" I have sounds more like two metal pieces hitting eachother.
After reading some threads on other sites I got an idea. Do you think it is possible that the bottom of the spring is losing contact with the perch and when it make contact again it is making the noise. I know when I installed the rears I didn't have to compress the springs at all to get the struts on.
The only way I can think to fix this problem would be to weld the bottom of the springs to the strut perch. This would suck if it is the case.

What do you think?
This is exactly what's on my mind too! Either the top or the bottom of the spring is losing contact momentarily - would it be possible to ghetto a baffle piece to reduce play?
hmmm
Well I thought about it a little more. In order for the spring to loose contact like that your would have to completely unload the suspension. This would mean almost losing contact with the ground in the rear. It takes far less than this to make my clunk so I don't think that is the case.

Back to square one
yep, your car would have to hit a pretty big bump to make ur springs loose contact with the perch. just think about how tall your suspension gets when u jack up the car and when it doesnt touch the ground. it would have to be around that height. so unless you think you hit a bump so big that it made the suspenion fully expand, i dont think thats the problem.
I have noticed that it seems to happen when the left and right are loaded unevenly. Meaning that I get it when I hit a bump with the left/right side only it clunks but doesn't seem to do it when it is an even hit.
This would seem to indicate the anti-sway bar since that is the only piece that connects the two sides. Maybe I should look into an aftermarket swaybar.
