folding mirrors

Ok if i got some of these how hard would it be to switch the housings so i would no have to paint them and possibly not have to worry about the actual mirrors being convex or what ever is wrong with them?

I don't understand what you are asking. You want to put the folding mirrors on your car but you don't want to paint them?

It won't cost that much money to get them repainted. Probably 40-50 dollars. Please explain a little better so we can give you some better answers.

I think he's asking if it's possible to switch the motor and mirror from jdm folding mirrors into a the housing of our usdm mirrors.

I think a few 5th gen guys have done it. Personally I'll just paint the jdm mirrors I got and be done with it. Too much of a headache taking everything apart.

He does have a good point about the mirrors. You know "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" Well its the left mirror that has that in Japan. Wouldn't this be a problem for a left hand driver?

you could probably swap mirrors with the USDM ones. I had the mirrors apart on my 5th gen before, not too hard, just it was kind of hard to pop them back on.

i have my pair and i was tring to take them apart...looks like you are going to have to pull on something and i wouldnt want to crack anything but if you DEF dont want the JDM housing just pull and see what breaks so you dont do it on the USDM ones

about the mirrors...it would be easier to just take out the USDM glass and put it in the JDM one so you dont have the "objects...." on the drivers side anymore

that's what I meant in my above post, except that I said mirror, but I meant to say just the glass part. Take a shop towel and wrap it around a screwdriver and pry off the glass. The glass is actually attached to a black plastic plate, so you shouldn't break the glass. Then you pop them back in place on the JDM's. It just that you have to press really HARD to get them back on. The procedure is in the Helm's manual.
