FOg Light Problems Please Help

I installed a fog light kit in my 95 vtec. I intalled, switch, relay and the fogs. I made sure the fuse was good. I turn the switch on and i get nothing the backlight of the switch doesn't light up nor do the fog lights themselves. Any ideas on what to check?

Is everything u have original?? Where'd u get the fog set from?? If you have a JDM switch, it wont work with the USDM harness, so basically, your fogs wont work if have the wrong switch. Other than that, check the bulbs...but since the backlight of the switch doesnt light up, then its prolly the switch...

Well, the 94-96 switches are not backlit to begin with so there is that. Other than that, do what he ^^ said.

the 94-96 switch has an indicator light on it when the fogs are on. That is what i was referring to and that doesn't light up it could be possibly due to a burnt out bulb in the switch itself, but the lights themselves are brand new and don't light up. I haven't tried changing the bulbs yet but i don't believe that could be the problem. I've heard the relay is supposed to click or something but i didn't hear anything.

..perhaps the relay is at fault? you know it's functional when you can hear it click.
you can swap the indicator light bulb with the one inside the hazard switch. that's what i did and i know my bulb isn't burnt.

I have 2 relays. I have a brand new relay and a used one. I've tried them both and have not been able to get the fogs to work. I'm guessing a wire might be cut or something but i don't know. Any suggestions?

replace the bulbs. If they still don't work you singled that out

Tap the ground and fog wires together and eliminate the switch. If they still don't work you singled that out!

Last thing is to check power going to the relay with a multimeter. If you are getting power then your relay is at fault(which I don't believe is the problem)

I'm about 75% sure it is the bulbs though. Many people have that problem.

Did you check both sides of the fuse?

I hooked the lights up to a battery and both of them lit up so the bulbs are good.

Hmmm...did you make sure you connected the right harness into the relay? There's another 4-pin relay connector down there that's for the security system. The fog relay connector is brown and shoulda been blue-taped to the vehicle harness.

the wires colors should be:
RED/YEL, RED/YEL, RED/GRN, BLU/RED

I think you also need to install the Sub harness. So you need the switch, sub harness, relay and the fogs. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/.../16810_01.html here is a link that helps you install the fog lights.

you don't need the sub harness. It just extends the relay to a mounting location. You just plug the relay into where the sub harness goes and zip tie it so it doesn't hang below the dash

the sub harness is not necessary, it just makes it easier to place the relay under the dash. mine works just fine without it. but now it keeps blowing the fuse, so i get to troubleshoot too!

Hey ludevtec95, this may be a stupid question on my part, but you do realize than your low beams must be on in order for your fogs to work! Im sure you probably already know that!

If your in the Twin Cities area Id be more than happy to help you out sometime if you still cant get it working. Just PM me. I just installed mine about a month ago with no problems whatsoever so I might be of some help. Good luck!
