Flywheels?

I'm wondering what companies make an aftermarket flywheel for 4th gen's? Specifically Si's. And if any of you have one, how do you like it?

h22/h23/f22 flywheels are all interchangeable. There's several companies out there: Jun, Clutchmasters/Fidanza, and a couple more I can't remember. Clutchmasters make flyhwheels for Fidanza (or the other way around...not sure).

Anyways I will be putting one in my Lude after we get this groupbuy thing finalized. It's for the Clutchmasters lightened flywheel. It weighs around 8-9lbs (dunno the exact #s). There's one going on for $225 +shipping in the 5th gen forum. flywheel groupbuy

I have a Fidanza with a 6 puck clutch and can't believe the difference it made I love the way it grabs and now that I have ES mounts it is to cool to describe.

So, what does a "lightweight" flywheel do anyway? Doesn't it increase acceleration and deceleration? What else?

It'll make the car more revhappy. Revs will go up faster. But the downside is that they'll go down faster as well. Less momentum to keep it going. So I believe just revving faster adn maybe faster throttle response. HTH

Yeah, the only thing that stops me from buying one is that I have heard about fitment problems.

Well, if it lets the engine rev faster, how could it NOT improve E.T.'s?

I love nothing more than to powershift all through the first 3 gears. It's so awesome!

JUN = all chromoly non replacable surface.
All others = aluminum with replacable surface.
All of them weigh around 8-11lbs the stock one is ~17-20lbs or so.

I have had a JUN for almost a year now with ACT HD-SS clutch and it kicks ass/ It does drop your E/T as long as you keep the rev up, but not much. It's really more beneficial for road racing though. The car feels like it wants to take off. I rate it my 2nd best mod, next to my dyno tuned VAFC.
THe true downside to lightened flywheels is dealing with the starter. Although I've had no problems with mine yet, it will not last as long with a lightened flywheel over a stock flywheel. Also, you might consider just having your stock one lightened by a machine shop a little.

I beg to differ. Its not a big difference, but it may shed 1-2/10ths off.

I had two different CM flywheels, which are basically Fidanzas. The first one started to melt down around the center. The second corrected the problem with a center bearing.

Veetec, so would you recommend buying an aftermarket one or just get the factory one lightened?

Having stock lightened will cost much less, but you will have a lot more down time on your car. Also, I wouldn't change it unless you are replacing your clutch at the same time.

I would feel safer about having an aftermarket flywheel, like the CM/Fidanza.
