Flip Flop trunk

I know they sell these kits on ebay, but I heard it is pretty basic and I didn't want to waste money on something that is possible to do with out the kit. I was just wondering if yall know how to do this project. If so, where can I get some straight foward instruction? thanks

someone i used to talk to designed a kit for the grand am...he sold alot of them, price was $50, he made like $2000
