In my experience, it took me a couple of months to find the perfect one- no scratches or dents, low mileage, perfect condition. However, my advice to you is to just get an 4th gen Si and use the money you saved on buying the car to get a J-Spec H22A motor. They usually come with 30-40K miles on them and they are in better condition. Plus, you'll save a ton of money on insurance!!!

They are very rare cars. Honda probably sold no more than 5000 of the VTEC prelude models from 93-96. And I'm sure a few of them are no longer on the road anymore.

I bought a 1993 Prelude VTEC off of a local Honda dealer's used car lot in 1997. In 6mo of looking for one, this was the first Prelude VTEC I found locally at the time.

Keep an eye on autotrader.com and be willing to drive a little for the car.

I like this idea. Find a Si in good shape then do a jdm swap. This is good because the new motor will have lower miles and more power than if you buy a us vtec. Also when you get the JDM motor you can get them with LSD trannies which is a nice thing that was nor a option in the US.

I live in central ohio and it took me 4 months just to find one. After I did I looked at it, it had 150+ miles and they wanted 6 grand for it, I went in and showed the guy all the problems with it (needed belts, stereo was screwed, a tire was leaking, and was not in perfect condition) anyhow I didn't care about any of that, all of the stuff that was wrong I could fix, so i got it out the door for 5 grand. Now I am driving it and love it.
