Finally got rid of Sqeak, shimmy, & rattle...

I went to my shop yesterday, and we finally put those annoying noises to rest. We put the car up on the rack and tightened some suspension bolts, and removed that damn exhaust heat shield. I had the car on the HWY last night at 100+ and the shimmy is gone from the steering wheel too. I would suggest tightening some suspension bolts for everyone that had aftermarket suspension put on. Things will loosen over time. My car feels like brand new now!

Which bolts, specifically? Just every bolt? My car could use some fine tuning, b/c it's stiff as hell. 28mm sway bars can be a mixed blessing.

hey, i just started getting rattles too on my car... i installed a N1 exhaust on it last weekend and the rattle just started this afternoon... it happens when i deaccelerate while still in gear... if i shift to neutral the rattle goes away.

i think the N1 exhaust makes so much vibration that it's causing the rattle, but it doesn't sound like its coming from the exhaust but more of the middle to the engine part of the car... anybody have any ideas??? thanks.

I just banged my Greddy SP last week now the whole heat shield rattles....I havn't looked under my car in months..did you have to remove the exhaust to take off the heat shield? And is your cars floor board warmer now?

I haven't noticed more heat, but it's 20's here right now. I didn't remove the exhaust, just used a little muscle. As far as bolts, I think specificly the upper strut mount.

Ok i kept getting this rattle from underneath the car when i was decellerating .... it turned out that the catalitic converter was shot and it was rattling from the inside (there were some loose pieces), i had the cat replaced and got new piping for the cat-back because mine was all messed up from meineke messing it up... it works great now and there's no more rattle!!!

i also had the shop check the fuel mixture and they said it was ok just to make sure that wasn't the cause of the catconverter failing.

hope this helps you guys.... rattling sux.
