Few questions on the USDM H22 swap in to H23 Si lude
I'm sorry if this has been answered somewheres else, but ive done alot of researching on the site, and havent been able to find it.
I noticed everyone is doing the JDM H22 swap. Well, I have a US H22, ECU, and Wiring harness. I will most likely be re-wiring the ECU (as described in the JDM H22 Walkthrough). But, is this neccesary? Is it easier to just swap out the wiring harnesses?
Now, about the exhaust. With your guys' expierience, will i have to modify my Si exhaust to accomodate the H22 motor?
Those are my two main questions. If any of you have run into any other problems along they way during your swap, please let me know of anything ishould be aware of that might not already be in the FAQs. THANKS!
I can't answer the first part, but getting closer to answering the second, what part of exhaust do you mean, just the cat-back, or do you have a high flow cat as well. I'm assuming you already know your header won't fit an H22. Btw, where'd you get a usdm h22 from, and what was the mileage on it?
wreckdiver was parting out yet another lude heh. thats where i got the motor from. solid running, 1 owner h22. little over 100k on it. and yes i know that my header wont fit. And i have the stock cat. The part of the exhaust i meant, was the downpipe.. i read something bout having to put a flange on the end of it
i took my cat to shop and had them cut holes in it. then it fit great. i guess you could swap out the harness but its just three wires. the hardest part is making it look facotry, i think. of course what the hell do i know cause i still dont have vtec.

I do have access to both of these, but the in car harness runs to the dash panels and all that crap doesnt it? SO im guessing running new wires is a safer bet?

correct. You can contact ds2000, as I believe he tried to use the incar harness but then discovered it was to much work.
hmm im not so sure about that, if his is an Si, his chassis is probably already wired for vtec..mine was...all the wires were at the ecu, the oil pressure sensor ended in the first main engine bay plug, and the vtec sol wire was in a plug by itself on the passenger shock tower.....so he might only need the engine harness to get the two plugs from, and as for the header, it should bolt up, mine did, the only problem i ever encountered was when i bought my apexi N1 exhaust for a vtec, the flange holes on the cat didnt fit it exactly, so i had to drill them out some, but during the swap everything from the header bolted up fine..later
I hate to resurface old posts... But PreludeRacer023.. Please help me. I have the same ordeal as you.... My wires go all the way to the ECU.. So what do i need to do on the oil pressure sensor?? and where do i connect the wire to? Is this the black/red to ground? Cuz if it is, i hooked it to the ground on the radiator support. Your HELP is much needed and GREATLY appreciated!!
