F22B1 Swap Problems

Okay I have successfully worked out the F22B1 motor swap into my 1992 Prelude S. Unfortunately I am having problems. I am getting a CEL light. So I hooked up a jumper wire and its throwing a code 3 and 14 at me. Code 3 means that I have an electrical error with the MAP sensor. There are 3 wires going into the MAP sensor. I have tried every wire combination with this sucker and I still get Code 3. The problem with the F22B1 is that the MAP sensor is attached directly onto the throttle body. With the previous F22A1 motor, the MAP sensor was bolted onto the firewall. Another problem I have is that I do not have an exhaust yet for this motor. All I have is the downpipe and a small pipe section where the 02 sensor is plugged in. The wierd thing is that I am not getting any CEL codes having to do with the 02 sensor. And then I am getting a code 14 which is the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve. I haven't really messed with this a whole lot. Anyway, is there anyone here that has attempted putting an F22B1 in a prelude and having similar problems? If so, and you have an answer to these problems I would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

You should try using a H23A ecu if you do not have the specific F22B ecu. F22B and H23A are pretty much the exact same engine when it comes down to it.

I have both the F22B1 ECU and F22A1 ECU. I noticed when using the F22B1 ECU that after about 10 seconds of idling it really starts to get rough. The idle slows way down and it feels like it wants to die. I get code 21, which is something for VTEC. I have not hooked up the 3 wires for VTEC though because I do not know where they go. I doubt not having the 3 wires for VTEC hooked up that it would cause idle problems. So basically right now I am having more luck with the F22A1 ECU because after 10 seconds the idle does NOT slow down like with the F22B1 ECU.

Okay I fixed code 14...I just had to adjust the idle. I'm still stuck with the MAP sensor! Could it have ANYTHING to do with not having an exhaust? It will switch back from running too lean to too rich because the O2 isn't getting an appropriate reading. I dunno...I'm stumped otherwise!

have you checked the map wires for opens? maybe whne pulling the motor somehting got snagged? sounds like a problem directly with the map

as far as the exhaust... i had to run a h22 with the flex pipe of the header just hanging not connected to anything... i never got a map error... doubt its that

oh youre going to love this!

i just finished my jdm swap into my 92...

and NOW IM HAVING A MAP PROBLEM TOO

as you said, ive tried everything i could think of... however my situation is slightly different... my motor has the map on the TB but the 92 car had it on the firewall... ive been trying to use the one on the TB cause well i think it looks better and doesnt junk up my firewall... however after many tries on the tb map i gave up and tried the one on the firewall... no luck with that either... so... what do i do?

no there are no opens... i thought of that as well... so i ran new wires straight to the ecu.

any luck with yours yet?

Well, I'm still using the ECU from my prelude and I ended up using the MAP from the firewall and it took care of code 3. The screw holes didn't line up the greatest so I had to do some dremeling and applied some liquid gasket around the MAP sensor on the TB lol. Seems to work good! I don't care how it looks cuz this is just my winter car. Thing is now its giving me a Code 43 and a Code 12. Code 43 is Fuel Delivery, Code 12 is EGR Lift Sensor. I dunno if I am gonna even worry about it or not. The car doesn't seem sluggish or anything so who knows!

12 isnt a problem i dont think.... id just go ahead and block it off =)

ill mess around with the map a bit more today. hopefully some time off away from the car will help me when i get back to it... seems to work that way anyway... ill be working on it for hours and hours not really accomplishing anything then back to it in the morning and whatever i was working on before i could fix in 10 mins
