F22B vs H23A

i dont want to start an argument or anykind of crap here, just want to know something. if they are the "same" engines then why does the power peak at different RPM's? I know for a fact it is the same head, just do not know about the power peaking. Anyone know the answer?

Specs:
F22B:
9.5:1
148 lb/ft @ 5000RPM
158 hp @ 6000RPM

H23A1:
9.8:1
156 lb/ft @ 4500RPM
160 hp @ 5800 RPM

Probably related to the bore/stroke ratio or compression ratio.

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME ENGINE. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT ENGINE CODES BECAUSE OF THAT. THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME ATTRIBUTES. THINGS LIKE STROKE AND COMPRESSION EFFECT AN ENGINES POWERBAND.

If you're 100% sure that they have the same head, then the CR change would be due to the fact of having a different piston, and in that case would probably make lightly different power at different RPMs.

but anyway they are different, they are just close enough that the f22b is pretty much the jdm h23.

I still dont really understand why you got the jdm f22, is it cheaper a then a usdm h23?

The power difference isnt huge obviously, but there is less in the F22, so why would you get it?

Just curious, not looking to start anything.

well, because i did not want another motor like the one that "blew" and this was the only one i could find at a reasonable price. it was less than 1/2 that of the h22 and much cheaper than the h23, plus i could not find ANYTHING in the states, until this baby came in. i like it, i am pleased, and now the top end keeps pulling HARD up to the rev limiter, i wish it weren't there

the f22b has better topend, i believe he said that because the power peaks at 6000 on the f22 while the h23 peaks at 5800

just a thought - but would that mean the f22 is better for extending the redline?

why would you want to extend the redline? what does a dyno plot of an F22b look like? If peak hp is at 6000rpm, i would imagine that there is no gain from a higher redline

That's true too.

just out of curiosity, why does the h23 peak sooner than the f22b, while the h23 has higher compression? Is that even a factor?
