F22B rebuild? possible in a weekend?

Okay, my motor has what I think is rod knock and it burns quite a bit of oil. I was going to try and take it out, rebuild it (new seals/rings/etc), then put it back in. I have done a motor swap before and am comfortable with working on the motor. my uncle is a ME an has done a lot of motor work on cars before and they run great.

Is this possible to do in a weekend? What unforseen problems could I find in the motor? It has been in my car for ~100,000 miles and was a JDM swap after the H23A1 went. Also, how much would it cost to rebuild - the seals/rings?

if your gona tear her down i would a full rebuild the cylinders will at least need to be honed and i dont think youll find a machine shop that is gona do it over the weekend. also if you have a bearing knocking you will need to have the crank polished. all in all unless you ready to shell ok 1k in machine work i would probably just order another f22b, or step up and order an h22a you can find them for around 1k online ussualy and you can just reuse your tranny and then get an ecu.

here you go h22 for 750 and then 173 for shipping. people on pp have had good results from them

yeah, I have heard good things about them. I may just wait til I get a job and do a h22a swap. I knew it cost $$ to have it redone, but I wasn't really sure about how much. Thanks!

I might as well get the F20B and get a ECU that will work for it - I have always wanted that motor

I've always heard and read that the F20B has stronger internals and bottom end, "better" cams, etc
