F22A1 to H22A(1) Swap Opinions??

Hi guys, I've had my 94 Lude S for a few years now and I'm getting antsy to start seriously looking at more power for her. My question is, would I be better off swapping the F22A1 Auto that's in her for a H22A or A1 Manual or just buying an Si that's already got the power I'm looking for and tuning from there? I know from a cost point of view that buying the Si would probably make more sense but I enjoy doing the work too, just don't wanna get in over my head...

Opinions are welcome, albeit you don't run me over the coals too much for being a newbie..

Thanks.

You can swap to a h22 if you like.

You can also just buy an already swapped h22 prelude. It's up to you.

Btw, a Si only has the h23, which is 160 hp. Unless you were planning on turboing the car, which in that case, you should keep what you have now.

if you like YOUR car, then swap it for the h22. if you don't care about YOUR car, then sell it. I am going to be on the market for a 4g once the accord sells (hopefully soon....).

Just a forewarning - a S model prelude isn't 'easy' to sell, especially in auto. most people want the power of the 2.3 or vtec model in manual...but hey, it's still a good car. The auto to manual swap isn't that hard. Where are you located?

You can always go turbo w/ the F22. My friend put decent numbers off his F22 at the time.

Thanks guys, I do like my car and was worried about trying to sell the S and get anything for it, even thought its mechanically sound its still stock with 180k on it, I prob wouldnt get enough to upgrade seamlessly into a stronger Lude. Ill probably keep her and swap or turbo the F22 then..

Would it be worth it to go turbo even with the auto tranny? or would it make more sense to keep the F22 and swap the auto for manual?

To me, if you plan on doing the work (or not paying anyone to do the work), then it would be okay to go through w/ the work. Of course you would want to go manual, but picking the right motor is pure preference.

So, whether I swap or go turbo, in the meantime should I get an intake, exhaust, etc.?? I want to only tune what could apply to both since cost will be a factor in the swap vs. turbo decision I dont wanna do anything that will only apply IF I swap the enigine or IF I turbo the existing F22.. Does that make sense at all?? Haha.

^if you are worried about cost, don't turbo.

Until you figure out what you want, I wouldn't buy an intake or other mods.

I feel like you need to do a lot more research as your questions are very vague and show that you don't know what you want to do or how to do it.

Turbo'ing the f22 is probably the best idea for turbo route btw.

You're right, I am doing as much reading as I can to try and figure out exactly what the ins and outs of both processes are, Ive never tuned a car before now and some of the details are confusing so forgive my stupid questions, I appreciate you guys' input though.. I'm not gonna do anything to my Lude til Im sure of what I want and what Im doing. Dont wanna run the risk of damaging a perfectly good car!!
