Just FYI: any OBD1 Honda knock sensor should get the job done.
Oh yeah, you MIGHT get lucky and the H22 downpipe will be a direct bolt-in (no modification of flanges needed). For USDM "S" models (f22a), this is the case. On Si's, modification of the flange is needed. Since your engine is the "equivilent" of an S model and also an F series, I'd say its possible you can just bolt her up!
I don't think the engine needs a knock sensor, we looked at the pins on the ECU (I managed to steal the OBD1 connectors from engine when it was in the original car) and there is no wire for the knock sensor :dunno:
The downpipe was a bit more of a pain, I could only source a JDM one so its JDM into UK atm, that was a bit fiddely
The O2 sensor is in place now as is the engine, we're literally adding the wires to the ECU, as we have the OBD1 connectors this should mean it'll all be nice and tidy
The H22 (regardless of country of origin) really SHOULD have a knock sensor. Pretty much all DOHC hondas come equipped with one. Double check that there isn't a red/blue wire in the D3 location:
Originally posted by ds2000 I'll double check it again but I'm 99.9% sure D3 was empty :S
Make sure you are looking at the plugs in the correct orientation. The ECU expects a knock sensor signal, and will probably run in limp mode without one ( no VTEC engagement).
Just double check that the change in engine noise you may be associating with VTEC engagement isn't just the IAB system. The butterflys are easy to see if they are working, since you can see the actuator move the connecting rod.
