A/F Gauge Question

Ok so forgive me for asking a question that has already been answered. Money is very tight right now so I can't really do a lot of mods, but I have an A/F ratio gauge sitting around so I figure why not install it so I have something to do. I read the FAQ for installing an A/F gauge, so am I right in understanding that you don't need an oxygen sensor to wire it up to, you can just wire it from the ECU?

Thanks
