extending life of throwout bearing??

Just found out today that my throwout bearing is going...D'oh. I just bought the car 6 months ago and the guy said it had a new clutch but maybe he was too cheap to replace the bearing...bastard! Anyway, the sound is really slight right now so I should have some time before it dies so I'm just wondering if there is any way to extend its life (besides not shifting!). I think not but thought I'd get expert opinions.
Thanks...later

Hmm.......I really don't think its possible to extend the life, unless like you said, don't use the clutch to shift.

well, if u know ur gonna stop, pop it out of gear without using the clutch...

just take it out of gear at the same time u let go of the accelerator. if u do it right, it should just slide out.

i guess u could try shifting at higher gears w/o the clutch too

How do you know when your throwout bearing is wearing out?? Right now, my clutch pedal is VERY difficult to push in. In fact, my ankle is sore from pushing it in. Any ideas what could be causing this??? Fixes???
Also, the clutch lets out very early. Is this a sign of a wearing out clutch too??? It doesn't slip under hard accelerating and fast shifting though.
Thanks

All I know is there is a slight squealing noise that comes from the engine bay but goes away as soon as soon as I start pushing the clutch in. Mechanic then confirmed my fears1

My clutch is also very difficult to push in, it feels like I'm lifting 200 pounds and there is squealing right about when the clutch grabs the flywheel.
