Exhuast silencer

Ive finally grown out of the loud exhuast and want it quieter. Can i take my car to like a local muff shop and have them put a resonator on there or something? And does that really gonna hurt my performance? I have a hi-flow cat along with 2 1/4 pipping by the way.

Sure, any exhaust shop should be able to weld in a resonator to your piping. If it is straight through (and doesn't have backwards facing fins) then it shouldn't hurt your performance at all.

Thanks would u think a resonator would make my exhuast more raspy or less? sorry that probably a dumb question but right now its a deep tone and i would hate for it to sound like a civic ya know..

If anything... a resonator will give you a deeper, quieter exhaust note. What a resonator does is slow down and lengthen the sound waves produced by the exhaust. Just make sure you use a properly designed resonator...

Here are examples of Good and Bad Resonator designs...

A resonator with louvers will restrict exhaust flow, and reduce exhuast gas velocity, resulting in loss of power. So make sure the resonator you use has perforations.

Not sure how much they will cost (never purchased them)... just go to PepBoys or any other chain auto store and check out prices.

it wont make you any more raspy-i took mine off along with my cat to check performance gains. it sounds like heck now, but it really helped on hp.

im putting the res. back on. it came with the thermal stealth catback. it will help out your sound.
