Exhaust Questions- Stock piping vs. Bigger?

Alright. I have an axel back exhaust coming my way in a few days. The piping is 2.5 inches and I still have the stock piping (2 3/8 inches i believe?) and my plan is to keep the stock piping, upgrade the headers with a test pipe with the axel back exhaust.

Would this be a decent set up with an h23? or should I upgrade the piping to 2.5 inches down the road? I just don't want to have too big of piping since the motor isn't pushing out a lot of power. I really don't want to alter the pipe size if it doesn't need to be. Please give me some advice and suggestions.

Thanks guys

Just buy decent headers, a high flow cat, and whatever catback exhaust that is 2.5.

You can go custom route and add a muffler if you want the most for your money.

Your best bet is to try to keep the piping diameter the same from the cat to the exhaust tip(s). 2.25" is the typical aftermarket piping for most imports, but on an H23 2.5" will be fine as well. I'd personally try to keep it all the same. A custom exhaust shop shouldn't charge you much to put in that extra link between your test pipe and the axle-back your getting.

Also, I would highly consider getting another resonator (say 18-24") if you're putting in the test pipe. I did the straight-through setup on my 3rd gen (with a straight-through borla), and the extra resonator made a very nice difference cutting down on the "raspiness".

My better judgment says yes it would be, with the displacement you'll be at. Some kids with their D16's might tell you you're crazy, but the reality is you're pushing a lot more air than the typical honda 4 banger. I'd say 2.5 is a safe bet.
