Exhaust Problems

i had this rattling noise at around 3k rpm`s and had it fixed by a shop. They rewelded some exhaust piece near the motor. The rattling started again, and i had it fixed again. Now the rattling is back and its pissing me off! does anyone know why it keeps on happening?

my friend has a 94 civic with the n1 exhaust and every so often it rattles like a mofo because the midpiping rattles on the gas tank, he just sticks a rubber donut between and the donut melts and for a while no rattle, maybe your having a similar problem and the shop is misdiagnosing it.

I don't know, but that shop is making free money!

Anyways, jack up your car and look under it yourself. It could just be a loose heatshield. Follow the exhaust from the downpipe part all the way to the rear. Make sure nothing is touching it. BTW, what kind of exhaust do you have?

i think it's a piece that connects your header to your engine block on the bottom aft part of the engine. mine cracked twice, so i removed it. i thought it was an isolated incident, but when i changed the exhaust system on my friend's 5 gen (back to stock so he can trade it in for a durango!!!) he had his bracket cracked in the same spot. i'd just say remove it
