exhaust piping size - Honda Prelude Forum

what is the ideal piping size for an exhaust system on an Si engine (2.3 liter). as of now i am going with 2.5 inch piping. any suggestion or tips are appreciated. also, i am going to buy a Magnaflow muffler to complete the set-up. has anyone heard a Magnaflow in action before?

sport compact car reccomends 2.25 inch piping for 2300cc N/A engines. it doesnt reccomend 2.5 until a 2600cc engine or higher... however alot of people go with 2.5. i wish there were dyno results in this mag because id think that 2.5 might be better. it just has a chart to go by..

There probably isn't a large difference but I went with the reccomended 2.25.

what is a legal aftermarket muffler for our 4th gens? the tip has to be the same size as stock. and no i dont wanna go put the stock one back on. i currently have the Apex N1 NA application w/ silencer and its considered illegal in vancouver.

heres the requirements for a legal muffler in vancouver - taken from a cop on importclassifieds.com

Examples
Stock Car X with stock muffler 2 inch tip

Stock Car X with after market N1 muffler 2 inch tip
- not permissible due to constuction, even if tip size is same or smaller

Stock Car X with after market Y muffler 4 inch tip
- not permissible because of tip size and/or construction

Stock Car X with stock looking/design muffler but loud
- not permissible because of DB level

Mufflers can be deemed not-permissible due to the following characteristics:
- tip size
- construction
- dB level

any inputs?
