Your going to get a ton of answers because everyone will tell you to get what they have. Personally, I have had great experiences with the GReddy product line so I would get the GReddy PE and an AEM CAI (even though I don't have an AEM intake). I've heard nothing but great things about AEM intakes.
Apex sounds kinda whiny, from all of the ones I've heard (A LOT). Like Mark said, Greddy's pretty nice. I know for a fact that Greddy's put out a nice, low, bassy tone. In terms of intakes, I think they're all going to help you sound the same.

Since we're on this topic, if I'm going to do one of these mods in the next year (I or E), which should I do first, or does it matter? Also, what exhaust would you recommend that gives gains but is not much louder than stock (I take long trips sometimes and 4000rpm at 80mph is nasty if its too loud). I know this is asking the impossible but I'd like suggestions. I've heard the R*SR is good, anything else?
RS*R is probably the best for your describtion... or Apex'i WS. I find that my racing medallion with the silencer is very quiet too, i can hear my intake more than anything else with my silencer on.

iceman intake comes close if your gonna go on long trips go with the intake. whatever you do dont gut your cat or get a sraight through testpipe cause i garuntee youll go crazy after a couple of hours of that loud bassy humming. i did, plus i didnt see that much of a gain or even maybe a loss

I got a straight pipe, i don't have no humming or buzzing sound... mine sounds a little deeper, that's it.

yep same with me, and I noticed that as the revs go up it pulls harder....

I say Intake first, AEM Cold Air Intake.... for exhaust like I always say Greddy... SP is a lil quieter than the PE, If you wanna go with something not that loud.
Originally posted by redlinelude thermal R&d exhaust and go with the AEM cold air intake and nothing else no other intake comes close
I have that setup but with the short ram intake. The short ram is louder then the cold air...I've heard the CAI on a lude with the thermal classic. It is THE deepest setup I've heard on a car yet.
I have a custom cold air intake. I am replacing this year with my stock intake. I personally think it flows better than these other intakes and its the only SEALED design. Honda knows what they are doing, no other intake on the market gives you a seal. Just remove the resonator and drop in a K&N Filter. Now I know many people with disagree with me , but hey go check out Roger Foo's Skunk2 Civic, he is using a stock air intake [resonator removed] Also read the magazine article in SCC and he sais he has not found anything that has flowed better. Sorry to burst a bubble, but I agree with him.
Ohh and I would not put a ShortRam intake on my car even if you paid me
Why replace a factory cold air intake system with an aftermarket one that does not pull cold air?
Because I didn't want to lose low end power like you do with a cold air. Plus I plan on putting in a custom supercharger and I would have had to do that anyway!
Tanabe Hyper Medallion has a nice deep low tone. Very quiet...almost like stock. I drive long distance a lot also...and you cant really hear it cruising around 70-80 unless you stomp on it. It looks and fits very nice! Sometimes i even think its too quiet but thats ok.

You've got pretty much the exact same setup as I do, AEM CAI, NGK plus and wires, RS*R cat-back, DC CC Header...only you're a VTEC. I'd have to agree, the RS*R is one of the few exhausts I've liked...I was just going to keep the stock one until I came across one hell of an oportunity to buy a new RS*R...

if you want to get an I/E combo that won't whine and has a good deep tone, then go with an AEM CAI and a GReddy exhaust, either SP or PE... I've got an SP and it's only loud when you nail it, but even then it isn't too loud. It's got a nice deep throaty sound to it too.

I like my Magnaflow muffler and Magnaflow glasspack setup w/custom piping. Its a lot cheaper than some of the complete systems and sounds nice and deep. Just $250 installed. Get amuffler w/out abezzeled tip so you can add silencer in case u think its too loud. Just my $.02
