Exhaust and hood question

Hi,

I own a 4th gen vtec for five months now. I did some maintenance today and when I was done I tried to close the hood, but it wouldn't come done. I noticed that the hood was bend a bit to the left so I removed it and after closer inspection I noticed that the left hinge (when standing in front of the car) was bend, I also noticed that the two cylinder bars (don't know the correct name) which hold the hood up appeared to be stuck e.a. can't be compressed by hand. Is it possible that those cylinders can become stuck from one moment to the next? Can they be fixed or should I spend some $$$ on new ones, have to order a new hinge anyway.

When I bought the car there was a remus silencer mounted, I changed to summer tires yesterday and noticed that the silencer pipe was broken in half, there where also several rust holes in the silencer. After furter inspection of the exhaust system I also noticed a small hole in downpipe assemby (the part with the woven metal which connects to the catalytic converter).
I'm looking into replacing the exhaust system (except the catalytic converter from legal issues) with a aftermarket system and can across a brand called SRS. Does anyone have experience with this band, is it good, bad?
If I buy a Downpipe (4-2-1) and a cat-back assembly from SRS then I would have a full exhaust system if I include the catalytic converter, right?

Regards,
DarnDao

1. I would buy new if you can spare the cash (talking about the hood springs/dampers, whatever you call them).

2. Never heard of SRS but SSR (which is rare). There are good headers which are normally $600+ and then cheapos which will work and sometimes give gains and sometimes not.

You already have a full exhaust system, maybe you meant to say "full aftermarket exhaust system". Remember that your setup is only as good as the weakest link. If you have an OEM cat, you might as well get a high flow (not test pipe) to help with the flow.

Here are some links to the exhaust system, it's from a Dutch site but the descriptions are in english:

Downpipe assembly

Catback system

What I meant to ask in my second question was that with these two products plus the original catalytic converter I would have a complete exhaust system.
downpipe assembly + cat + catback system = complete exhaust system?

How much difference is there between a 4th gen 2.0, 2.2 vtec, and 2.3? Is it only the engine or are there also differences in bodywork? The reason i'm asking is because I want to look for some second hand hinges and hood dampers and I wonder if the parts are the same for all 4th gen models.

You should just go look at an online parts store for the P/N and compare.

But I'm pretty sure all the hinges are the same.
