Exhaust/Engine Sound

well, the motor sounds like its knocking a little, but then it doesnt drive any different on 93 octane which is what is always in there now. i may just need to change the oil and see if that does anything. The exhaust has also suddenly gotten more of a raspy tone instead of the deeper tone that it had for about a year. im not sure what's up with that. i did something last friday that may have helped it: i raced a 3000gt and not thinking about the 3-4 oh **** 2nd gear shift problems alot of us have, i just shifted. i barely let the clutch out and it went up to 8,000 rpm but the motor still idled fine and no problems after that racing.

any ideas about the exhaust? i was thinking about getting mine redone and getting a pipe run straight back from the cat then out at an angle (i have the N1) because the douches that ran my exaust made it hang really low and i am about to drop the car about 1-2 inches. any ideas on the straight back?
