Exedy Clutch = tEh suXors

Just replaced my clutch over the weekend. I had the Exedy Organic "Race" Clutch. It was giving me problems. It was extremely difficult to shift if possible at all. Replaced my Exedy and ACT Streetlite Flywheel with a Competion Clutch Stage 4 and Fidanza Flywheel. Just FYI, the Exedy and ACT combo weighed 26.5lbs. The CC Stage 4 and Fidanza weighed 23lbs.

Check out the pictures and see if you find whats wrong. The disc is broken is about 8 places!!!

Beware Exedy!

I do love my new combo though. Stage 4 sounds high but very streetable. The clutch pedal feels just like stock or just like the Exedy did. It also still engages smoothly. I notice the revs drop a little faster. This combo gets a from me.

Picture of the new setup:

Damn that sucks knowing that alot of people go with the Exedy 'race' clutch, including myself.

When did you start noticing the problem with the exedy. I have the same setup you used to and this makes me nervous.

It started happening about 3 weeks ago. One day the car was hard to shift. I made it home and then a few hours later I took the car back out again and it was normal. Drove around for a week just fine and then it happened again and I could not shift at all. To put the car in first I had to turn the car off first. It's been about 25k miles or so.

Yep, that's why I only recommend CC now (not just because we sell them). I have a 6 puck cerametallic CC clutch in my track car and DR has a CC 4 puck Iron Man CC clutch in his track car! We carry CC now, so if anyone is interested in Competition Clutch products, please let me know.

The exedy clutch kit actually weighs a bit less than stock.

I believe the setup with your fidanza wheel was lighter mostly because of the fidanza flywheel.

No argument here. Wasn't saying either setup was lighter than other setup because of this or that. Just giving reference weights to look at.

Exedy Organic Race Clutch with ACT StreetLite (11.9lbs) Flywheel = 26.5lbs
Competition Stage 4 Clutch with Fidanza 8lbs Flywheel = 23lbs

As a follow up to this thread, the CC Stage 4 and Fidanza are holding up nicely. I love the clutch/flywheel combo. Grabs so nice.

Awesome. Since we're on the topic of clutches & flywheels...

I've got my transmission sitting outside right now, and I'm looking at different clutch/flywheel combos.

I've been looking at the Fidanza flywheel, and for clutch, nothing spectacular... either a exedy oem grade clutch, or the stage 1.

Anybody have this combination?
Exedy (oem or stage1) and Fidanza flywheel?
eBay - clutch + flywheel

Or perhaps another good (also affordable) combination? Something in the 250 or < range.
