You can fit in any H series or F series(old ones) USDM or JDM. You could try to put in a B series engine but there is not really any point to.

He was talking about a B series spoon motor the other nite. Bad idea in my mind, and I also didn't think it would be compatible. So what, in your opinion, would be the best swap for a 92 Lude Si?

Sounds like your friend has watched the Fast and the Furious one to many times. Just stick with the h22 swap or tell him to turbo his h23. Those are the best two options. If he goes with the h22 swap I would go with the JDM engine. Seems to have alot more potential than our usdm engines. There is a type S varient that you can get for a couple thousand more than the regular h22, however the cost really isn't worth it for only 20 more hp.

yea your only real options that would be very successful would be to either

A) h22 swap
B) turbo the h23 which I am going to do next year

His h23 has over 130K on it right now. So you would say rebuild the crap out of his motor that will withstand up to...15 psi? or 20 psi? so he could get the most power out of it. Also can you recommend stroker kits for the 2.3 L to get all motor power? Thanks for all the help (I dont know much about ludes by the way)

No on the stroker kit. If you want to go all motor put in a h22. If you plan on boosting rebuilt your h23. If you go with stock internals on the rebuilt you can run about 8-9 psi of boost and make about 250-260whp. If you fully build the engine for high boost you can make anywhere from 300+hp.

like the guys said, either an all motor h22, which you would need to do some serious work on it to make it compete with v8s. OR a boosted h23, which brendon outlined above, which would be very expensive but very worth it. good luck to "your friend"
