ever heard of this?

a friend of mine was talking about how he heard a few people on the civic board saying something about spraying or misting water into your throttle body while someone holds the car at 6000 rpm's to clean out carbon buildup. no one i know has heard of this, but he said several people had done this with good results, and that some shops charge like $70 to do it. i'll be gone for about two weeks, but post back if you've hear of it. thanks

I don't understand how water can clean better than those throttle body cleaners. The thought of water going into the TB doesn't sit well with me.

yean i would use tb cleaner because if you get to much water in there you can have problems beause water doesnt compress when the piston comes up so something else would go

The trick is to MIST the water. There isn't any carbon at the TB, that is just crap from the oil vapour. The carbon deposits are on the pistons and the valves inside the combustion chamber. Nothing is being burnt outsite the cylinders as far as I understood this..... Anyways, the water "steams" the crud off the pistons. It's an old school thing.

It's not like you put the hose into the TB and start your car...

Try it, tell us how it works.....
