even more timing issues...

I just changed my timing belt but I couldn't manage to get both cams exactly lined up while putting the belt on....the exhaust cam is off by about 1 tooth. Does anyone know if this is going to make a significant difference?

my car starts up but there is significant loss in power and I can't seem to retard the timing 15 degrees BTDC as directed by the helms. My distributor is retarded as far as possible and this is only about 4 or 5 degrees BTDC. Does this mean i have to take off my timing belt and try to adjust the exhaust cam so that it isn't off by 1 tooth?

Your timing should seriously be set correctly. I know the belt can be a PITA. I know there are 2 holes in the cams and on the top retainer. You can drop a metal dowel in each one, i forget which size. This will hold the cams pretty close to the right spot so you can get the belt on. Also there is a line on each side of the cam you can use this line to make sure its even. kinda like this(- -) (- -)
Good luck.

Make sure you jump the service connector BEFORE you try and adjust the timing. I'm guessing you didnt do this, thats why you cant get the timing right.

nevermind, i just tried jumping the connector and I still couldn't retard it enough. I'm pretty sure i have to pull off the t-belt.

Has anyone here ever been able to remove the belt and put it back on (over the cams only) by locking the tensioner in place without using the honda tool to slide the belt on?
