I've revised my write up several times since the first time I drew it all out a few years ago, and figured I'd post it up, making it easier for those in the future who want to do this swap.
Looking at the back of the gauges, there are 5 harness clips, they are read from left to right as H, J, K, L, M. Clips K and L are used for the inverter, there is no wiring needed there. The wires are numbered from left to right as well, so wire 1, on clip H would be the very left most wire on the gauge set. Here is the wiring diagram:
H Clip :
1- Yellow (Power)
2- Pink (Speedometer)
3- Yellow (Power)
4- Red/Black (Dimmer, do not connect if you want full bright)
5- Black (Ground)
6- Orange
7- No wire
8- Run a wire to one of the constant power pin outs on the under dash fuse box. There's 4, they're just above and to the left of the main 'block' of fuses. (Gauge Memory / Trip Mileage Memory)
9- Red/Yellow (High Beam/Blinker)
10- No wire
J Clip:
1- No wire
2- No wire
3- No wire
4- Green/Yellow (High Beam/Blinker)
5- Red/Blue (High Beam/Blinker)
M Clip:
1- Blue/Silver Dots (Tachometer)
2- Black (Ground)
3- Red/Yellow (High Beam/Blinker)
4- Green/Blue (High Beam/Blinker)
5- Blue (S.R.S.)
Questions, comments, problems, I'm always here to help.
Ryu, I was going to do this swap to my 93 car, but mine doesn't have the dimmer control for the dash lights. If I were to swap in a JDM electro cluster, would it cause a problem if there was no dimming facility in the first place?
Originally posted by ds2000 Cheers for this, mine will hopefully be going in before long.
how did you get your trip milage to keep memory?

I know that this might a dumb question but could someone please provide a pic of the non-Electroluminescent guage cluster? I have found this link to what should be the Electroluminescent cluster, but I have yet to find a pic of the standard cluster. Thanks for your help.

I actcually ripped the harness out of the car I was taking my vtec cluster from and only had to rewire the 4way button. For some reason my trip meters work perfectly fine, but the arrows that flash on the cluster don't appear to work properly. Every time I indicate to turn either left or right, my EL cluster flashes both arrows (like 4ways) rather than the arrow which corresponds to the direction I'm turning. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a way to fix this?

Ground the black wire on the 3 prong connector on the passenger side.
