We have been discussing the swap in the OT forum from another thread but it was 5th gen related. I want to know if I swap my 93 SI gauges(Non-Electro) to the better looking Electro Illum. gauges what do I have to do for my mileage? I checked the FAQ and searched but it doesn't answer my question. What exactly has to happen to get the Digital read out to match my mileage?
here is a quote from Zimmlude to start things off.

The odo in the EL gauges is where the milage data is stored so all you have to do (if you are swapping EL to EL) is transfer the odo module. If you do a standard to EL swap you are going to have to either get the digital odo reprogramed or find a cluster with close to the right number of miles on it. I am not sure if it is even possible to reprogram those things.

you are gonna have the mileage the other car had on it
call honda to see if you can get it reprogrammed, you can show them the old odometer so they wont think you are a crook...
Theoretically there's a way to make it match but it requires you to hack the ROM on the digital gauge. I don't know what kind of ROM they use on these digital gauges so I don't know what kind of ROM interface you'll need for these. I would speculate that these ROMs are non-flashable as they are sensitive to external interference and flash ROMs are on the expensive side. If you want to stay "legal" or accurate reading on your digital gauge take pictures of both your analog and digital gauge (better yet just keep your analog in your garage don't sell it). When I did mine I had 127xxx miles on the analog and 56xxx miles on my digital and that was a year ago. Now I have 66xxx miles on my digital. So that puts me to 137xxx on my car. Hope that helps.

edit: I didn't see influx's post but yea maybe Honda has those interface. I did the ghetto proof on mine but hey it's completely legal

that will work, take pics with a digicam, have them notarized for the date at the bank
nah just notarizing it makes it like 'more official'
im not even sure if they would do it, it was just a thought, but since its on a digi cam and you have your title with you, it shouldnt be a prob, im not sure tho

then he could write out a note that says these pics are real and then sign it
Honda says if it is less miles you are in trouble. They did say that the Highway patrol has a "sticker" of some type that you can get from them stating the mileage when you did the swap. So far, Honda says they can't reprogram the Digital OD.
I would take a pic of both gauge side by side so they both show up in the same picture. I would also take a good old camera over a digicam so you have a real picture with the negative. It's easy to edit a digital picture but try to change the odometer numbers on a negative Also it's easy to change the date on a camera or something like that so I wouldn't count on that
I bought my JDM VTEC in the UK with odometer value converted from km to miles (51,146 km to ~31710 miles). This was done by a UK company using a laptop. I know this info is not that useful - I just wanted to let you know that it can be done.
Would it be possible to tell us what company that is? They probably used some kind of eeprom programmer or something like that.
Scalifludesi: I thought ROM meant Read Only Memory, wouldn't that imply that they either used something else to store the info or use some kind of flashable ROM cause they obviously have to store the mileage on it somehow...
