EL gauges wiring questions

hey guys, i m sure this has been covered a bunch of times, but i just cant seem to find it anywhere. I started wiring my el gauges, but i m having some trouble. I have everything working expect my my tach is not idling right. It stays at 0 after i start the car, and only moves once i press on the gas pedal. the other problem i m having is my speedo. It doesnt work at all. I m sure its a connection problem. I dont know which wire from my stock harness is the is the correct wire. I ve looked at the 93 prelude manual and the 92-96 wiring diagram manual but i havent found anything helpfull enough, they both show different things, or i guess i m not readin it well. either way it doesnt seem to work, so i stopped cause i m still not sure of the correct wire. I have a 93, and the gauges i got are from a 94. so right now, on the el harness, i have 4 unconnected wires: red with yellow stripe and silver dashes, orange, white with yellow strip, and pink. Now i read somewhere that the pink is the speedometer wire and the white with yellow are the hot wire so that the gauges dont take a few secs to light up when the ignition is on but i cant find anywhere which wire to connect em to.

On my stock harness, on the A harness i has the wires black, orange, pink, and yellow unconnected, and so far, my gauges light up after bout 5 secs of ingnition, the odo works, trip A and B also work, the left and right blinkers work, the srs also works, the high beam indicator also works. The B and C harness from stock have most of the connections, but i m not using all the wires.

I know this has been covered a few times, but i couldnt not find a decent write up that explains in detail which wires of the stock harness we are supposed to use to connected to the el harnesses. I know a lot of people have it working, but noone really explained exactly what they did. Anyone please help, if u could list all the wires from the stock harness to be connected to the el harness with the colors that would be great. Also if you can please list all unused wires.

Thx.

hey guys, sorry for the troubles, but i m still havin problems.

i had seen the one prelude styl had originaly written on hpoa, and thats what i used. I ve asked around, and a lot of people told me that its just color matching. I dont know if its me, but i doubt that the color wires all the the same things on different cars. For example, i looked at some honda online manuals, and some say that the speedo wire is black, another one says thats its yellow, while for the EL from what people have written its pink. What i would like to find is a write up quite like the ones that have been previously written by prelude styl and scaliflude that name the color wires and the purporse of the wires that will be connected to the wires from the EL cluster that were named inthe previous write ups. In other words i m looking for definitions of wires concerning the car in which the swap is actually being done so the correct wires can be connected, know its color and purpose on both cars. For example since i know that the speedo wire is pink on the el cluster from 94, and i also knew that the speedo wire for the 93 was lets say purple, then i would know that i m connecting the speedo correctly. But right now, i have no idea what the some of the wires are for in my 93. Some are the same yes, but some arent, and thats where i m stuck.

If someone can help, please do so, it would be graeatly apreciated.

another option would be to obtain the 94-96 EL wire harness and your problem would be solved....good luck!

The person I bought my EL gauges from said she would include installation instructions. If they're decent instructions, I'll post them up whenever I get the gauges.

Its supposed to do that unless you put in the dimmer relay from 94+ and adjust it to higher brightness.

tap into the D7 wire (red/blk) from the temp/fuel gauge and connect that to the H7(red/blk) in the speedo/tach, you can click up the dimmer knob and both gauges should remain fully bright when the headlights are on....at least it worked for me
