EGR Valve...

Hey guys,

I had some time off from work this week and I wanted to clean out my EGR Valve. I tried searching some previous posts and I couldn't find an answer as to what tool is required to get to the bolts. Do I need a crow foot socket? It seems as if the bolt is a 12mm (or possibly 10mm) and if this is the case, they do not make a crow foot in that size.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Um.. they make 10mm and 12mm crows foot. Craftsman...

Ince not a whole lot of torque is required, I usually just us an extention and deal with the angle...

Silly me, they do have 12 mm crow foot extensions.

They also seem to sell them individually which is great since I don't have to spend a ton of money on a whole set.

I'll go pick one up tommorrow.

Thanks.

The bottom bolt holding the EGR on is a pain to get off. Even with an extension and universal joint, I wasn't able to get a good angle. It's a pretty soft metal, so once your socket slips on it once, it's pretty much toast. I ended up having to use a bolt extractor on it.

1/4" rachet + 6" extension (or whatever length over 4") + 12mm socket works like a champ.
