EGR simulation circuit?

Has anyone tried to fool their P13 ECU into thinking EGR was still hooked up (to avoid the MIL, or "CEL" as it's called)? I've heard hooking up about 2200 ohms of resistance in place of the EGR sensor using a standard 12v relay in place of the vacuum relay will make the P13 think EGR is there when it is not. Has anyone actually tried this?

I want all of it out of my engine compartment. The valve, the wiring, the sensor, the solenoid, the vacuum line, the bracket, all of it, GONE.

I actually have a copy of your writeup that I converted to a pdf, but it is missing the wiring diagram. That image must have disappeared from the host, although the photograph of the device was still hosted. But I didn't need that, I understand how to wire it. I just wanted to know if it really worked (100% of the time, not some or most of the time)? I'm getting ready to set this up, although I will probably hook it up under the hood first, and when it proves itself, then cut into the ECU loom and move it down next to the ECU. I don't want to butcher my wiring harness and find out it really doesn't work.

Actually i never saw the CEL again for it. I did when i bumped it and accidently changed the resistence too low, but when i set it back, never had the problem again. So i know it works cause i still dont have my EGR hooked up.

I ran the EGR test today, it worked like a charm. Next weekend I will move the circuit down to the ECU. I'm going to try running a straight 2200 ohm resistor so I don't have to worry about the pot setting moving from vibration or a pothole hit. I had my pot set at 2200 for my test, and the light never came on even once, although I went less than ten miles. I've already yanked my intake resonator out of the front fender, and junked all that stuff including the vacuum line to it. I'll be scoping the engine compartment for more stuff to evict, right now I'm eyeing the evaporative canister crap. BTW, I think the popular intake pipes people buy are a waste of money, especially the short rams that pull hot air out of the engine compartment. Get rid of the resonator and you get a low restriction, cold-air intake for free. The intake noise jumps up just like a pipe. The fun part is it looks stock. I'm switching to a Type-S intake myself, you don't see many of those around. I wonder how many people abandon the resonator in the fender when they install their intake pipe? If they knew how much it weighed they'd go after it. It's heavy.
