EGR Sensor Removal

I have a JDM H22 VTEC, I want to know how removing the EGR sensor will affect the performance of the car.

if you remove the sensor you will throw a CEL. if you just block it off it wont throw a code.

It will cause the car to run slightly leaner because you will be getting more oxygenated air.

If you remove it you will get CEL. I would also recommend making some kind of metal plate to block it.

Sorry but...

If the EGR is disabled, of course the the air mixture will be better, but the ECU will immediately correct the ammount of fuel via the O2 sensor to bring back the a/f mixture to stochio (at partial throttle). So, at partial throttle (close-loop), the mixture won't be leaner.

At WOT, the EGR is disable. SO there is no gain there BUT the only interrest in bypassing the EGR is too keep the air intake manifold as cold as possible (high air density = +HP). But to begin, you need to do a by-pass cooling mod first. Then the EGR by-pass mod will help in keeping the intake as cold as possible. So then, yes there is a good gain. And then, yes the a/f mixture can be leaner and should be double-checked.

I already have the by-pass coolant mod done properly (no freaky idle) by blocking the lower hole inside the TB.

So I'M also looking to stop the EGR.... Where would you put a something to block it???

i just cut out some sheet metal and threw it in between the egr and the egr gasket. i kept the gasket in there so it makes a tight seal still.

I'll try that...

No ECU code error?

nope, no check engine light

the ecu cant tell if its actually working, it can just tell if the vacuum is plugged in and the sensor is plugged in.
