Effects of Driving without a TPS

I have driven my car a few times now without the TPS hooked up at all. Here is what I have found:
1. My air/fuel ratio is running extremely richer then normal
2. Car is sluggish (result of too much fuel)
3. When idling at a warm temp the RPMs drop down to 450-400 and then bounce back up.

Driving without a working TPS sucks. Thought I would share my experience.

What is the purpose of the Throttle Position Sensor, and what other effects of not having it currently should I look for?

The TPS or Throttle Postition Sensor tells the ECU how far the throttle is open, thus how much fuel is demanded.

You will still be able to drive without a TPS, though not very well.
The ECU will see a lean condition from the o2 once to open the throttle and it will atempt to richen it up. The ECU will also know how much vacuum your are pulling by the MAP sensor and will adjust fuel and ignition acordingly.
You can still drive, but dont expect to set any 1/4 records and your catalytic converter will burn up withen a few 100 miles, possibily less. (extreme rich kills cats)
