i have a chipped p28, supposed to be chipped for intake, exhaust, header......i plugged it in and car wont run above 4k jus sputters and backfires, plus it wants to idle around 2200rpms..... could it be the ecu? or did the guy that wired the vtec up in my car mess it up?
i have a 92 lude with JDM h22a, currently i took out the p28 and am running the stock p14 with no vtec, but i need to get this problem first
it didnt work either, i tried it before i bought the p28, but i cant remember what it did with the p13 in it, i will check later on today and let you know
ok i got the p13 auto ecu in.... vtec is engaging, but when it kicks in it sputters really hard for about 1-2 seconds then pulls like crazy..... any ideas what could be wrong??
its not getting any CEL codes either
nah, no chip, new ngk plugs, the wires are good, i think i need a fuel filter........but i noticed something else last nite, it runs horrible on a cold startup, doesnt even wanna stay running, but then after i drive it for a lil while and it warms up, it runs a lot better, so i dont know
I am dealing with sputtering issues too, and I've been told to check:
•compression
•sparkplugs
•Timing
•primary o2 sensor
•TPS
•Knock sensor
•EGR and EGR ports
•IM ports
•Fuel Filter
•fuel pump
• distributor cap and rotor
yeah i wish it wasnt my daily driver tho, cuz then i could jus replace everything and go with trial and error, till i fixed it, but i cant afford to do it all at once, and i can only work on it on my days off that way i know it will run when i go to work, lol
In order to rule out maintenance issues, you need to run the car with a manual p13. You can convert an auto p13 to a manual one really easy if you know how (I think there is a link in the N/A library). Once you are running the car with the right ECU, then you can diagnose regular things like ignition and vacuum leaks.
